Inflammatory Cytokines and the Risk to Develop Type 2 Diabetes

In conclusion, our data support the concept that subclinical activation of the immune system is involved in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes. We demonstrated that a specific pattern of cytokines was associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, rather than isolated elevation of the respective cytokines.

And inflammation (which is caused by the increase of Cytokines) creates insulin resistance and the insulin resistance, in turn, causes more Cytokines 2 to form!

      Hi Gerhard, Sorry to hear about your diabetes. Do you use only oral medicine or have you started with injections? Living with diabetes is not easy and very expensive – even if your medical aid is footing the bulk of the monthly ongoing costs. There are only 2 ways to deal with it: 1. Manage your diabetes, or 2. Cure your diabetes.
